Serbia has approved €54.2 million of additional infrastructure construction for the EXPO 2027 complex in Surčin, covering roads, parking, pedestrian areas and supporting utility systems. The new building permit concerns the second phase of infrastructure linked to the Best Practices and Corporate Content section of the EXPO complex. The estimated value of the works is RSD 6.37 billion, excluding VAT.
Roads and utilities expand the EXPO construction programme
The approved package includes roads, parking areas, pedestrian promenades and associated utility and infrastructure systems serving the wider exhibition complex. The infrastructure works are being developed alongside exhibition facilities, the National Stadium, accommodation, transport links, energy systems and surrounding commercial development included in the broader EXPO investment programme. The expanding construction pipeline is increasing activity for contractors, engineering companies and materials suppliers, while multiple projects are being executed simultaneously ahead of 2027.
Surčin development extends beyond the exhibition site
The infrastructure programme includes systems required for transport capacity, pedestrian access, utilities and traffic management around the EXPO complex. Roads, parking, public spaces and utilities associated with the project are also part of the development of the wider Surčin area, alongside transport, sports, hospitality, commercial and utility infrastructure. The €54.2 million package adds another major infrastructure project to the EXPO construction programme as work progresses across the wider site.
Construction programme moves toward integrated infrastructure
The latest permit covers supporting infrastructure alongside the exhibition facilities, reinforcing the expansion of the construction programme beyond individual buildings. With multiple projects progressing toward the 2027 EXPO deadline, roads, utilities, energy systems and buildings form interconnected parts of the wider development programme.
