Hungarian logistics group Waberer’s is expanding its Serbian operations with a combined 20,000-square-metre distribution platform in Belgrade, building on its majority ownership of MD International (MDI). The Budapest-listed company said MDI will expand its capacity in two phases, starting with the relocation to a new 8,000-square-metre warehouse at CTPark Belgrade City in the fourth quarter of 2026. The new facility will increase MDI’s existing warehouse area by 50%, adding approximately 4,000 pallet positions, additional loading capacity and a new warehouse-management system.
From the first quarter of 2027, MDI and its partners plan to develop a greenfield build-to-suit distribution centre in Borča, consisting of two warehouse units of 10,000 square metres each. The investment value has not been disclosed.
MDI provides established Serbian distribution network
Waberer’s acquired a 55% majority stake in MDI as part of its strategy to expand integrated logistics operations beyond Hungary. MDI employs more than 280 people and operates approximately 180 vehicles. Its network comprises four distribution centres in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš and Čačak. The Serbian company serves thousands of retail outlets and operates across FMCG distribution, road transport and warehousing.
The additional warehouse capacity will allow MDI to expand its existing operations while pursuing new FMCG distribution and third-party logistics contracts. Waberer’s integrated logistics model combines transport with warehousing, inventory management and other supply-chain services, providing the group with a broader range of services for manufacturers and retailers.
Borča project expands Waberer’s logistics property portfolio
The planned Borča development will extend Waberer’s logistics property activities into Serbia, following experience with logistics real-estate projects in Hungary and Slovakia. The centre will include multifunctional storage areas and is planned to achieve BREEAM Very Good certification. The company is developing the Serbian platform around Belgrade while MDI’s existing network provides distribution coverage through Novi Sad, Niš and Čačak. The new capacity will add to the group’s warehouse and distribution infrastructure available to Serbian customers.
Logistics expansion follows revenue growth
Waberer’s reported approximately €435 million in first-half 2026 revenue, representing an increase of more than 9% year-on-year, while EBIT reached €26.6 million. MDI’s full consolidation has already contributed to the group’s logistics segment. The Serbian expansion forms part of Waberer’s broader combination of transport, warehousing, distribution and logistics property development, alongside its international road-haulage activities. The company is adding the two-stage capacity expansion to the operating platform it established through its acquisition of MDI, with the first 8,000-square-metre facility scheduled to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2026 and the two 10,000-square-metre Borča units planned from the first quarter of 2027.
