Nagoya, Japan, marked the 20th anniversary of Expo 2005 Aichi, a global event that attracted millions of visitors and showcased innovations shaping the future. Representing Serbia and the upcoming Expo 2027 in Belgrade was Dušan Borovčanin, advisor to the director of Expo 2027.
Borovčanin highlighted that the Aichi Expo demonstrated how progress and sustainability can work together, leaving a lasting legacy and providing guidance for preparations for Belgrade 2027. He invited participants to visit Belgrade for the first Expo in the Western Balkans, scheduled from May 15 to August 15, 2027.
Expo 2005 Aichi introduced hydrogen-powered vehicles, robotic guides, and virtual reality to the public, with the theme “Wisdom of Nature” integrating exhibitions with the natural environment. The event also established the X4 Innovation Award in collaboration with the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE).
Visitors toured the Expo 2005 park, which still preserves thematic pavilions and a museum, commemorating participation from over 120 countries and 20 million visitors.
Expo 2027 in Belgrade aims to showcase Serbia’s creativity and hospitality, leaving a lasting legacy in infrastructure, sports, culture, and education, while uniting over 120 countries under the theme “Play for Humanity: Sports and Music for All.”
