According to sources within GSP Belgrade, new Turkish trams have numerous defects, causing frustration among local engineers.
Sources confirm problems with the trams’ door control sensors, braking system, and air conditioning. Local engineers also report issues with axle alignment, the absence of certification for couplings, and the fact that they have not yet received technical documentation or manufacturer instructions for proper procedures. Of the five Bozonkaja trams delivered, local experts are able to work with only one, while the others remain in the depot and are used only for simulated tests.
The Center for Local Self-Government has consistently argued that the Bozonkaja tram tender was prearranged and that these trams are not a suitable solution for Belgrade. However, this solution was imposed on GSP and the public by the mayor’s office, said Nikola Jovanović, director of the organization.
Jovanović added that GSP Belgrade has many honest and well-intentioned engineers and workers, but unfortunately their input is often ignored, which risks damaging this important city enterprise.
