A new marina with a capacity for 120 vessels is planned for construction in Bezdan, near Sombor. The marina will be a frontal type, category two anchor designed for small boats, located on the Veliki Bački canal, just outside the main waterway.
The marina will include docks and moorings within the water area, while the land area will host a building designed to blend with the surrounding environment and local architectural heritage. The complex will feature a guardhouse for reception and security services, along with a multifunctional building housing guest reception, administrative offices, bars, a restaurant, and overnight accommodation.
Separate facilities will include sanitary amenities such as toilets, showers, laundry, and cloakrooms, as well as a service building for minor vessel repairs and a fueling station providing lubricants and other essentials for marina users.
Security will be ensured with a transparent artificial fence, video surveillance, and controlled access via a gate and ramp. The marina will also include pedestrian and vehicle entrances, landscaped green spaces, internal roads, and parking areas.
Infrastructure plans cover underground and above-ground utilities, lighting, sanitary installations, a dry berth area for winter vessel storage or minor repairs, and canal access.
The Ministry of Tourism announced a tender worth 26 million dinars for the development of the project-technical documentation, with applications due by September 4. According to Uroš Kandić, State Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Youth, the state will fully fund the marina’s construction, estimated at around 400 million dinars, while the local government in Sombor will handle project documentation.
Kandić emphasized that the marina will be built on a turnkey basis within two years and will serve as Serbia’s gateway from the Danube side, representing a significant opportunity for regional development.
Sombor’s mayor, Antonio Ratković, described the marina as one of the city’s largest tourism projects. He expressed hope that similar initiatives will extend to other communities along the Great Bačka canal, further enhancing the region’s tourist infrastructure in the coming years.
