The city of Kragujevac, located in central Serbia, reported a foreign trade surplus of approximately €517 million for the year 2025, driven by a substantial increase in export volume. Local officials and business representatives highlighted this achievement during a recent press briefing, emphasizing the positive impact on the local economy. Total exports from Kragujevac exceeded €1.81 billion, marking an impressive rise of around 126 percent compared to 2024, effectively more than doubling the city’s international trade turnover.
A significant portion of these exports—over 80 percent—consisted of finished products, indicating a shift towards value-added exports. Furthermore, nearly 90 percent of the exported goods were directed towards markets within the European Union. The automotive and transport equipment sector played a crucial role in this export growth, with cars, automotive parts, tram vehicles, and rail vehicle components collectively making up more than two-thirds of the city’s export portfolio.
These findings were shared by Mayor Nikola Dašić alongside representatives from the Regional Chamber of Commerce. They noted that the results reflect broader improvements in the business environment in Kragujevac, where local companies and entrepreneurs have significantly contributed to export-led growth and job creation throughout the region. The notable expansion in exports and the resulting trade surplus underscore Kragujevac’s status as one of Serbia’s key industrial hubs.
