Serbia has announced plans for a Chinese-backed humanoid robot assembly and artificial-intelligence data operations project in Šabac, with officials saying production could begin by late August 2026.
President Aleksandar Vučić identified Chinese robotics company Agibot and automotive supplier Minth Group as participants in the planned initiative, which is intended to expand Serbia’s presence in advanced manufacturing, robotics and artificial intelligence. The project announcement represents a potential move beyond traditional assembly-based investment, although key commercial details have not yet been disclosed.
Investment and Production Details Remain Unconfirmed
As of July 20, 2026, authorities had not released confirmed information on the project’s investment value, planned production capacity, employment targets or detailed implementation timeline. It also remained unclear which parts of the humanoid robots would be produced locally and which components would be imported for final assembly.
