Governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), Jorgovanka Tabaković, stated that the NBS is conducting additional analyses to propose concrete measures aimed at reducing bank margins. The goal is to enable more favorable borrowing conditions, especially for citizens with lower incomes.
Tabaković emphasized that the measures will consider both short-term and long-term effects and aim to prevent banks from making quick profits at the expense of citizens and the economy. She noted disparities in interest rates between Serbian banks and their regional branches, with Serbian banks often offering less favorable terms.
The NBS is committed to finding the best solutions to lower interest rates and credit margins, focusing on consumer protection and maintaining financial system stability.
