Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that a retail chain failed to clearly display prices in line with new economic regulations, which could result in a fine or, under the law effective September 1, even temporary closure of up to six months. Vučić emphasized that while large profits are acceptable, businesses must not exploit consumers.
Regarding the ownership of retail chains, Vučić noted that while it would benefit the state if chains were Serbian-owned, business decisions—such as the sale of “Maksi” by Delta Holding’s Miroslav Mišković—were purely commercial. He added that the government is willing to support efforts to maintain or establish Serbian ownership of retail businesses.
On infrastructure, Vučić announced that the high-speed train to Subotica is expected to start operations within the next seven to nine days, no later than the morning of September 22.
