In the first half of 2025, remittances to Serbia totaled €2.3429 billion, slightly lower than €2.541 billion in the same period last year, marking a 7.8% year-on-year decline in personal transfers, according to the National Bank of Serbia (NBS).
The geographic structure of remittances remained stable, with the largest contributions coming from Germany (24.7%), Switzerland (12.5%), Austria (9%), the U.S. (7.1%), and Croatia (5.9%). NBS noted that the slightly lower inflows from Germany and other EU countries may be partly linked to economic stagnation and reduced inflation, which previously supported nominal growth in remittances.
In previous years, annual remittance inflows stabilized near €5 billion, and a similar level is expected for 2025 and upcoming years.
