A new automotive components factory is set to be established in Inđija by the Chinese supplier Techron Automotive, which will produce plastic parts for electric vehicle models from Škoda Auto and the Chinese brand Yilian. This facility will be Techron Automotive’s first production site outside of China, highlighting Serbia’s increasing significance in the automotive supply chains of both Europe and Asia.
The factory will be constructed within the industrial zone of Inđija, occupying approximately 26,600 square meters. The project includes a production and warehouse hall, administrative offices, and supporting infrastructure, with the total built area expected to exceed 4,500 square meters upon completion.
Projected annual production capacity is over 10.5 million plastic components, primarily targeted at electric and hybrid vehicles. The output will consist of various interior and structural plastic elements, such as protective caps, charger housings, and connector components. For Yilian’s electric models, production is anticipated to reach nearly 5 million units per year, while similar volumes are expected for Škoda’s electric vehicles, including specialized parts for electrical and charging systems.
The manufacturing process will utilize thermal processing and injection molding techniques for plastic granulates, followed by finishing, quality control, and packaging. At full capacity, the facility is expected to process around 900 tonnes of plastic raw materials annually, utilizing technical polymers that are prevalent in the automotive sector, such as polyamide and PC/ABS blends.
Initially, the factory plans to employ around 65 people across production, administration, and sales roles. As operations expand and additional shifts are introduced based on market demand, total employment could rise to approximately 200 workers.
Designed for continuous operation with up to 330 working days per year and multi-shift production capabilities once fully operational, the facility is viewed by local authorities as a significant investment that positions Inđija and the surrounding region as a competitive manufacturing hub for electric vehicle supply chains—particularly in plastics and precision automotive components.
For Techron Automotive, this investment signifies a strategic move closer to European automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), while also reinforcing Serbia’s status as an attractive near-shoring destination for projects related to electric mobility and advanced manufacturing.
