On July 28, the Belgrade City Transport Company (GSP) announced a tender to repaint buses in the new “Nemanjić Blue” color, with an estimated cost of 80 million dinars, according to Ivan Banković, president of the GSP “Centar” trade union.
The repainting will cover buses of the BMC and Higer brands. Banković noted that, per the existing contract between GSP and the City of Belgrade, this repainting requirement officially applies only to vehicles manufactured after October 2022.
However, Banković added that the Higer buses delivered in 2019 will also be repainted, assuming that Mayor Aleksandar Šapić prefers a uniform fleet in the new blue shade without any red buses remaining.
He also emphasized that every transport company should ideally be able to paint its own buses independently, but GSP currently lacks the necessary facilities and must hire private companies for this work.
A new requirement in this tender is that the selected contractor must have two painting chambers for vehicles, a condition that had never been required before, Banković explained in an interview with FoNet.
