The first regional centre for the development of agriculture and villages was opened in Sjenica (southwestern Serbia) on Monday, with the aim to boost agricultural production in the municipalities of Sjenica, Tutin, Prijepolje, Priboj, Nova Varos and the town of Novi Pazar.
The centre was declared open by Minister of Agriculture and Trade Dusan Petrovic, Minister without Portfolio Sulejman Ugljanin, and Minister of Labour and Social Policy Rasim Ljajic in the presence of a great number of citizens, diplomatic representatives and businessmen.
Petrovic said that this and other centres of the kind, which will be opened in Serbia in the coming months, will help entrepreneurs from underdeveloped municipalities to earn more and thus secure a better economic position.
Ugljanin announced that similar centres will be established in other underdeveloped areas of Serbia.
Head of the Sjenica municipality Muriz Turkovic underlined that the municipalities in this region are committed to the development of agriculture and villages, organic food production, environmental protection and tourism.
Director of this centre Esad Hadzic underlined that the improvement of agricultural production will be realized through trainings which will be aimed at broadening local producers’ knowledge of the new production methods and technologies.
