The first of 25 new Turkish-made Bozankaya trams has arrived at the JKP GSP Beograd depot in New Belgrade, the Secretariat for Public Transport announced on its official Instagram account.
According to the released information, the new tram is 30.5 meters long, with a capacity of 170 standing and 48 seated passengers, and features six entry and exit doors. It can reach a maximum speed of 70 km/h, reports eKapija.
The Secretariat stated that these vehicles mark the beginning of the modernization of the tram fleet in Belgrade’s public transport system.
After completing operational testing on the network, the public will be informed about further details and the date when the new trams will enter service.
Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Šapić recently said that the second tram is expected to arrive by June 20.
