The concession operator for Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, Belgrade Airport, which is part of the VINCI Airports group, has announced a substantial investment of €360 million aimed at the expansion and modernization of Serbia’s primary international airport. This investment, initiated in 2019, represents a significant financial commitment within the airport’s development program, as reported by General Director Chivoine Rem during an interview on Bloomberg Adria TV.
According to Rem, the year 2025 is projected to be a landmark period for the airport, with expectations of nearly 8.9 million passengers utilizing the facility. This anticipated increase in traffic supports the ongoing expansion efforts. The funds allocated so far have been used to enhance essential infrastructure, including terminal extensions, the addition of 12 new gates, and 11 new aircraft parking stands. These improvements are designed to substantially boost the airport’s capacity and operational efficiency.
Future plans include construction work that commenced in November 2025, which will introduce three additional gates and more aircraft stands. This initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy to position Belgrade as a regional aviation hub capable of accommodating up to 15 million passengers each year by the conclusion of the current concession period.
This investment reflects VINCI Airports’ long-term dedication to infrastructure development in Serbia, aligning capacity enhancements with increasing demand and routing growth. The sustained capital investments and rising passenger numbers position Belgrade Airport as one of the fastest-growing aviation hubs in the Western Balkans.
