Serbian Minister of Transport Milutin Mrkonjic launched talks with representatives of the French plane producer Airbus concerning the procurement of four planes by means of leasing for the Serbian airline.
Mrkonjic and Assistant Minister in Charge of Air Traffic Milutin Popovic conferred with Airbus representatives in the government over the concretisation of activities aimed at expansion and modernisation of the JAT flotilla. The purchase of planes would contribute considerably to the accomplishment of the Serbian airline’s plans, the Ministry of Transport released.
Mrkonjic agreed on the activities connected to the procurement of planes by means of leasing and the beginning of the talks with Airbus was realised within the preparatory meetings for the visit of Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic to France.
In Paris, Dacic will meet with French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault and the meeting will certainly cover the cooperation in the sector of air traffic.
Mrkonjic qualified the talks with the French delegation headed by the company’s deputy president Monica Menghini and regional director Gregoris Dassios as one of the most important steps in the search for a solution to JAT’s problem.
He added that the French plane producer considers the search for the most adequate model of cooperation as an expected move and a testimony of the two countries’ good cooperation and friendly ties.
According to the decision of the Serbian government, the Ministry of Transport is in charge of coordination of its activities in the reorganisation of the national airline.
