NIS Strengthens Rail Logistics at Pančevo Refinery as Danube Levels Disrupt Fuel Transport

A €32 million railway modernisation at the Pančevo refinery has taken on greater strategic importance after exceptionally low Danube water levels complicated fuel and petroleum-product transportation in 2026. The project modernised more than nine kilometres of industrial railway track together with associated loading and handling infrastructure. The refinery's rail network handles approximately 14,000 wagons and 750,000 tonnes of petroleum products each year, giving the upgraded system a significant role in the movement of energy products.
