Serbia’s Electricity Market Coupling With EU Could Be Delayed Until Early 2029

Serbia’s integration into the European Union’s coupled electricity market could be pushed back to the first quarter of 2029, provided the country completes outstanding regulatory alignment by the end of 2026. The prospective delay comes despite significant development of Serbia’s domestic electricity market. SEEPEX already operates day-ahead and intraday trading, while Serbian market rules have increasingly aligned with European practices, including negative pricing and market price limits.
