The Sombor-based company “Black Horse” has announced plans to hire 60 new workers by the end of the year and to launch trial battery production in mid-January. After a turbulent period, the firm — Serbia’s only domestic battery producer for the past eight decades — is restarting production and returning to the market.
CEO Aleksandar Čolić stated that this year’s investment in “Black Horse” amounts to three million euros.
“Our plan is to install all new equipment by the end of the year, which will allow for greater efficiency and sustainability,” said Čolić. He added that the company will first begin producing traction batteries.
“Trial production will start in mid-January, with sales planned to begin next year. After that, we intend to launch production of starter batteries no later than early 2027, using the most advanced technology available,” Čolić explained.
“Black Horse” was once one of the industrial giants of the former Yugoslavia.
