The “Save the Fruit Growers” campaign, organized through the website spasimovocare.com, connects small fruit producers in Serbia directly with buyers. This initiative allows buyers to purchase domestic fruit at prices lower than typical market rates, while fruit growers can sell their products at prices covering their basic costs.
Due to adverse weather conditions like frost, fruit production has declined this year, causing prices for fruits such as cherries and strawberries to rise sharply. The campaign helps producers with excess or highly perishable fruit, especially raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries, to sell their harvest before it spoils.
Buyers register on the website and fill out a form to participate, after which organizers facilitate direct connections between buyers and producers. Deliveries are usually arranged twice a week, with updates shared via a Viber group of over 10,000 members.
Most participating producers come from regions like Arilje. Now in its third season, the campaign aims to satisfy both producers and consumers with fair prices while reducing local fruit waste.
