The Republic of Serbia has positioned itself as the primary investor in the recent share issuance by Aerodrom Nikola Tesla, contributing approximately €20 million. This investment allowed the government to acquire nearly 63 percent of the newly issued shares, significantly bolstering its existing stake in the airport operator to about 82.9 percent.
The share issuance was executed through a public offering that resulted in nearly all of the 2.93 million newly issued shares being sold. This capital increase is part of a strategic initiative aimed at securing funds for infrastructure and operational enhancements at the airport. Following Serbia’s substantial participation, OTP Bank emerged as the second-largest buyer, purchasing around half a million shares on behalf of various clients and funds.
Serbia’s financial commitment to this recapitalization was made at a subscription price notably lower than the current market value on the Belgrade Stock Exchange. This pricing strategy underscores the terms of the share issue and facilitates a significant influx of capital to support Aerodrom Nikola Tesla’s planned development initiatives. The capital infusion is expected to play a crucial role in fortifying the airport’s financial stability and advancing its long-term growth objectives.
