The exports of information and communication technology services have seen significant growth, surpassing €3.5 billion annually. This expansion is largely fueled by demand from markets in the United States, Western Europe, and neighboring regions. A substantial portion of Serbia’s IT exports comprises software development services, outsourcing agreements, and digital product design.
Several major global technology firms, including Microsoft, NCR, Schneider Electric, Oracle, and IBM, have established development centers in Serbia. These facilities employ thousands of local professionals and play a vital role in enhancing the country’s technological landscape.
Belgrade has emerged as a vibrant hub for startup activity, while Novi Sad is recognized for its strong focus on software engineering and research. The Novi Sad Science and Technology Park serves as an incubator for numerous startups and tech companies specializing in areas such as artificial intelligence and robotics.
Government initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and research have further bolstered the growth of the technology sector. Tax incentives for tech firms and support programs for startups have been instrumental in attracting investments and promoting entrepreneurship.
As industries worldwide continue to undergo digital transformation, Serbia’s status as a regional technology hub is expected to further solidify.
