Short and medium-term inflation expectations in Serbia’s financial sector remained within the target range of 3 ± 1.5%, according to the results of the August survey. The Ninamedija survey shows that short-term inflation expectations of financial sector participants slightly increased compared to the previous survey, reaching 4%, the National Bank of Serbia reported. Meanwhile, results from the September Bloomberg survey indicate slightly lower expectations at 3.7%.
Business representatives’ inflation expectations for the next 12 months, according to the Ninamedija survey, returned to 5% in August after a temporary rise to 6% in July, consistent with levels seen earlier in the year.
For the financial sector, two-year-ahead inflation expectations remained unchanged at 3.5% in August, while three-year-ahead expectations slightly increased from 3.1% in July to 3.3% in August. Medium-term inflation expectations among businesses also remained steady at 5%, with levels ranging between 4% and 5% since the end of 2023.
