In 2025, global challenges such as geopolitical tensions, the energy crisis and market fragmentation will shape the business environment, according to Marko Čadež, president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. Čadež emphasized that Serbia offers an ideal location for new production plants, especially as companies from Asia and the USA look to establish a presence in Europe. He also highlighted how the Chamber plans to provide modern technological tools to help improve Serbia’s business sector.
Čadež identified investment as Serbia’s key opportunity amidst global developments. With major economic players like the USA, China, and Europe likely to engage in fierce competition over tariffs and customs restrictions, Serbia stands to benefit by becoming a hub for production facilities, particularly for companies seeking to enter the European market.
The inflow of foreign investments is expected to increase, especially from Japan, Korea, China and the USA. Despite the economic challenges in Europe, Čadež believes that Serbia’s competitive advantages, such as lower energy costs, will attract significant foreign interest in 2025. He also discussed the Serbian Chamber’s digital initiatives, including the creation of a digital catalog of exporters, which will connect Serbian businesses with global markets and facilitate international trade.
As part of its modernizing efforts, the Chamber is focusing on innovative economic diplomacy, showcasing Serbia’s technological advancements and fostering connections between Serbian entrepreneurs and global leaders. Čadež pointed to Serbia’s strong performance at the Web Summit in Lisbon and upcoming participation in events such as the Web Summit in Qatar and Gitex Global in Dubai as evidence of the country’s growing presence in the global tech scene.
Looking ahead, Čadež expressed confidence in Serbia’s ability to leverage innovation to foster economic growth, attract foreign investments, and support startups through initiatives like Tesla Venture Studio. By promoting collaboration between startups, large industries, and innovative companies, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce aims to ensure that Serbia remains at the forefront of technological and economic development in the years to come.
