Serbian Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarević announced in Tokyo that the Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO) is expected to reopen its office in Belgrade. She highlighted Japan as a priority Asian market for Serbia and emphasized the long-standing, successful cooperation between Serbia and JETRO, noting that over 75 Japanese companies visited Serbia last October.
Lazarević stressed the importance of attracting new Japanese investors, with JETRO playing a key role in facilitating this. The focus of cooperation will be on specific sectors with high potential, including public-private partnerships, renewable energy, the automotive industry, and new technologies.
She noted that the discussions are part of a broader economic agenda during President Aleksandar Vučić’s official visit to Tokyo, aiming to expand trade, investment, and collaboration between Serbian and Japanese companies.
The Serbian delegation also included Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Bela Balint, Chamber of Commerce President Marko Čadež, IT and e-Government Director Mihailo Jovanović, presidential investment advisor Danilo Cicmil, and Ambassador Aleksandra Kovač.
JETRO is an independent administrative institution linked to the Japanese government that promotes trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world.
