The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced the completion of the third, penultimate review of Serbia’s economic program supported by a standby arrangement, as confirmed by the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) today. Praising Serbia’s achievements under the program, the IMF highlighted accelerating growth, declining inflation, reduced current account deficit, and record-level reserves.
According to the NBS, the IMF commended Serbia for decreasing the share of public debt in GDP, meeting all quantitative criteria for indicative goals, and making progress in structural reforms. Jorgovanka Tabaković, the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, emphasized that the IMF’s decision reaffirms Serbia’s sound policies across economic and broader governance areas, including international relations.
Tabaković underscored Serbia’s proactive and coordinated approach in addressing global challenges, which has established robust protective mechanisms allowing for swift responses—a stance positively acknowledged by the IMF.
