President Aleksandar Vučić, following his discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Moscow, expressed expectations for a soon-to-be-made decision regarding the construction of a train factory in Serbia.
Vučić revealed that President Xi informed him that the analysis concerning the establishment of the factory is nearing completion. This marks the first time a Chinese company has shown interest in the Vranje-based furniture company, Simpo. As Vučić noted, the Serbian state has been financially supporting the factory to help maintain jobs and sustain operations during tough times.
The potential Chinese investment in Simpo, which employs over 1,400 people, could be a significant lifeline for Vranje. Vučić further emphasized the importance of increasing Chinese investments in Serbia, pointing out that three out of the five largest exporting companies in Serbia are Chinese-owned.
Additionally, Vučić shared that President Xi suggested enhancing the strategic coordination between Serbia and China to deepen bilateral relations.
