Serbian pharmaceutical company Galenika has successfully acquired the Slovenian firm Sanofarm, enhancing its market presence and diversifying its offerings in the dietary supplements and natural health products sector. This acquisition is part of Galenika’s broader strategy to expand its operations beyond conventional pharmaceuticals.
Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Izola, Slovenia, Sanofarm specializes in the import and distribution of dietary supplements and natural products, primarily sourced from Italian manufacturers. Following this transaction, Galenika has assumed full ownership of Sanofarm and will serve as the exclusive distributor for selected international brands within Slovenia, as well as managing a portion of the product portfolio in Croatia.
In 2024, Sanofarm reported revenues of approximately €3.9 million, with a net profit of around €326,000, which indicates a slight decline compared to its financial performance in the previous year. Notably, the company does not engage in operational or commercial activities in North Macedonia.
Galenika operates two pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities in Serbia, producing over 250 pharmaceutical products across various therapeutic categories. Since its acquisition from the Serbian state in 2017, Galenika has been privately owned and integrated into an international pharmaceutical group.
The acquisition of Sanofarm aligns with Galenika’s goal to penetrate higher-growth segments such as dietary supplements and natural health products while leveraging established distribution networks to strengthen its foothold in Central and Southeast Europe.
