Engineers overseeing expert supervision on the Pakovraće to Požega section of the “Miloš Veliki” highway have unanimously refused to sign the Record of Inspection of Works and approve the list of unfinished tasks. These documents are essential for construction inspectors to issue a certificate confirming the section’s completion, Insajder reported.
Earlier announcements had set the opening date of this highway section for June 28, and later Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated it would be open by the end of the month.
In a tense and charged atmosphere, the engineers collectively declined to sign the necessary documents, which are required before the Technical Inspection Commission can issue a positive report. Such a report is the basis for the section to enter trial operation.
Recordings from the beginning of the week show that work is still ongoing on this highway section, according to Insajder.
The terrain above the retaining wall near the Munjino Brdo tunnel, an area of previously secured landslide, continues to settle. Excavators are actively removing soil in layers, while the Institute of Transportation (CIP) is conducting geotechnical tests at the site.
Local resident Milan Majstorović, who often observes the construction site, recently told Insajder:
“I know how many times it has been agreed when the road will open, and I am sure it will not open as announced. If it does open now, it would be a disaster. Whoever signs off and allows it to open is essentially signing their own sentence.”
