The Budapest–Belgrade railway modernization project is progressing, aimed at enhancing transportation efficiency between the two capitals and bolstering regional logistics. This initiative is recognized as one of the most significant infrastructure undertakings in Southeast Europe.
This railway is integral to a larger transport corridor that links Central Europe with the Balkans and Mediterranean ports. When completed, the railway will enable trains to operate at speeds of up to 200 km/h, which will shorten the travel time between Budapest and Belgrade to approximately three hours.
The project underscores Serbia’s vital role within Eurasian transport networks and reflects the country’s commitment to upgrading its infrastructure as a means to stimulate economic development.
