The U.S. Treasury Department has postponed sanctions against the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) for the sixth time, now until September 26. Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović stated that NIS will continue ensuring a stable supply of oil and derivatives to the domestic market despite complex circumstances.
The ultimate goal remains the removal of NIS from the U.S. sanctions list, a process dependent on ongoing high-level U.S.-Russia talks. Serbia has so far preserved its energy security, with the refinery maintaining sufficient crude oil to operate normally.
Serbijagas Director Dušan Bajatović confirmed that fuel supplies in Serbia are sufficient for six to eight months, with no risk of shortages or price shocks. The postponement allows NIS to continue business operations, contracts, and transactions, including crude oil transport agreements, until September 26.
Minister Đedović Handanović emphasized that Serbia did not contribute to the sanctions and will continue diplomatic efforts to ensure stable energy supply for citizens and the economy.
