Trayal Corporation has opened Serbia’s first ammonium perchlorate manufacturing facility at its Obilićevo industrial complex near Kruševac, expanding domestic production of specialised chemicals used in solid rocket propellants.
The investment could create around 100 additional jobs, while a separate agreement with the Ministry of Defence covers the production of camouflage-protection products. However, the company has not disclosed the plant’s investment value, production capacity, expected annual revenue or commissioning results.
Domestic Production and Defence Industry
The new facility could reduce Serbia’s reliance on imported ammonium perchlorate, a specialised chemical used in solid propellant systems. Nevertheless, continued imports of equipment, production inputs, spare parts and technical services may remain necessary.
Trayal operates across rubber products, protective equipment, industrial chemicals and defence-related manufacturing. The new plant complements its existing capabilities in areas connected with composite rocket propellants.
Financial Performance and Employment Potential
Company-wide financial data reported through the Serbian Business Registers Agency show that Trayal generated approximately €66.2 million in revenue and €97,000 in net profit, with an average workforce of around 1,201 employees. The figures cover the entire company and do not represent the performance of the new facility.
The project could also support employment in engineering, maintenance, quality control, industrial safety, environmental management and contractor services in Kruševac and the wider Rasina District. Trayal’s industrial roots date back to 1889.
The projected 100 additional jobs remain a target, rather than confirmed recruitment. The facility’s commercial performance will depend on customer orders, production costs, operational reliability, regulatory compliance and the return on investment.
Potential exports could provide another growth opportunity, although no export commitments have been disclosed. Access to international markets will depend on product specifications, customer qualification, quality and traceability standards, and applicable trade and licensing requirements.
