Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said last night that Serbia can overcome the crisis with new projects and investments.
At a celebration in Viminacium, held on the occasion of Day of Kostolac thermal power plant and mines and Miners’ Day, Dacic stressed that the way out of the crisis should be sought in new projects, the creation of new jobs and investment spending.
He pointed out that Serbia should first develop what it already has, and this is energy, mining, agriculture, infrastructure and construction, underlining that Serbia’s great chance for development lies in the energy sector.
The Prime Minister said that Kostolac thermal power plant and mines must carry the banner of economic development in this part of Serbia and save other companies which rely on it or which can carry out works there.
This is the only way we can reach an overall state agreement on helping each other, he added.
Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Zorana Mihajlovic noted the importance of Miners’ Day for Serbia because 50% of the country’s electricity comes from coal.
Mihajlovic stressed that Kostolac thermal power plant and mines is an example of how companies within the Serbian Electric Power Industry should operate.
