According to the latest competitiveness report by the World Economic Forum, Serbia is ranked 95, which is up by one position compared to the last year.
Compared to the most of its neighboring countries, Serbia takes lower position on the list of countries whose competitiveness is determined based on results from 12 areas.
Montenegro is 60, Bulgaria 74, Croatia 76, Romania 77, Albania 79, while Macedonia is ranked 79.Bosnia-Herzegovina is the only neighboring country whose competence is assessed as worse than Serbia’s placing it on the 100th position.
Inefficient bureaucracy, corruption, poor access to funds, inflation and political instability were identified as the most serious obstacles to business in Serbia.
