Serbia’s public company “Srbijašume” sells firewood at 5,269 dinars per cubic meter. Vulnerable households eligible for social welfare can buy it at a reduced price of 2,900 dinars, including VAT.
Other discounted categories include pensioners, people with disabilities, war veterans, and families of fallen soldiers, who can purchase firewood at 4,478 dinars per cubic meter (VAT included). The 1,000 most vulnerable households are entitled to eight cubic meters of free firewood, delivered directly to their homes.
The program covers up to 10 cubic meters per household, sufficient for a typical heating season, and runs from September 1 to March 1.
“Srbijašume” enforces forest protection through a dedicated guard service and strict monitoring of firewood sales. Firewood from state forests is marked with a black stamp and accompanied by a delivery note, while wood from private forests carries a green stamp.
