Serbia has negotiated a new gas contract with Russia, but it will not be signed before September 20, according to Dušan Bajatović, general director of Srbijagas.
The delay is due to uncertainty about gas supplies from Azerbaijan, which currently has no available gas. Bajatović also mentioned that the postponement of sanctions on the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) is positive news.
He stressed that NIS remains strong, controlling 60 percent of retail and 80 percent of wholesale markets. Bajatović affirmed the importance of maintaining Serbia’s oil industry for processing oil and producing derivatives.
