The Ministry of Mining and Energy awarded Millennium Team contracts to clear areas contaminated with explosive remnants of war at two future self-balancing solar power plant sites in Serbia. The decision came after Millennium Team twice contested the Ministry’s initial decision to grant the contracts to Saturnia and the mine-clearing NGO STOP Mines.
The work is required for sites where Hyundai Engineering and UGT Renewables will build the solar plants, selected as strategic partners for the project.
Although bid was higher than Saturnia and STOP Mines, the Republic Commission for the Protection of Rights in Public Procurement ruled that the Ministry had improperly evaluated the initial winning bid, citing issues with certification and technical criteria. Following repeated reassessments, the Ministry ultimately awarded the contracts to Milenijum Tim on September 4.
