Serbia’s Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric has signed an agreement with German company Muhlbauer to award the company €500,000 for creating 100 new jobs. Ciric said that more than half of employees would be highly-qualified specialists with high levels of academic education who would work with extremely sophisticated products that Muhlbauer, the world leader in technology manufacturing of chips for identification documents, will make in Serbia. Muhlbauer has already cooperated with the Serbian government in producing biometric passports, ID cards and driving licenses.
Minister Ciric pointed out that Muhlbauer had seven factories in Germany, one in Slovakia, and that it is planning to open a new one in Serbia. He also added that construction of the factory would commence in June and end in October. Muehlbauer owner Joseph Muehlbauer said that the new plant would span about 4,000 square meters while adding that this likely will not be the only plant the company will open in Serbia.
