Serbia’s Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević met with a delegation from China’s Hebei Province, led by Vice Governor Jin Hui, to discuss strategic partnership results and potential Chinese investments in a logistics center in Serbia under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Sofronijević emphasized the importance of enhancing rail freight between China and Europe via Serbia, positioning the country as a key hub in this logistics corridor, which would strengthen economic and trade ties between Hebei Province and Serbia.
She highlighted that strong bilateral relations, supported by Presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Xi Jinping, facilitate growing economic cooperation. Investments from Chinese companies, such as HBIS based in Hebei, are seen as crucial for joint development and Belt and Road projects.
Hebei Province, one of China’s economically strongest regions, with high growth rates and significant investments in new technologies, offers additional potential for long-term cooperation. Sofronijević expressed gratitude for China’s support and trust, noting that Serbia-China collaboration will continue to serve as a model of successful international partnership and shared economic development.
