Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) has been actively investing in the enhancement of its fuel retail network throughout 2025. This expansion and modernization effort comes despite a challenging operating environment within the downstream oil sector. The company has identified retail as a key strategic area, emphasizing improvements in service quality, network coverage, and operational standards.
In 2025, NIS launched and upgraded six service stations under the NIS Petrol brand. This initiative included the full modernization of five existing stations and the construction of one entirely new facility, thereby integrating network renewal with increased capacity. The upgraded locations were situated in Svrljig, Mrčajevci, Kraljevo, Kula, and the Surčin Airport area, while the newly built station was established in Majdanpek.
The modernization efforts encompassed enhancements to fuel-dispensing infrastructure, safety and environmental systems, convenience retail spaces, and customer amenities. These upgrades aimed to align the stations with contemporary technical and service standards. According to NIS, these investments are intended to boost reliability, reduce service times, and improve the overall customer experience at both high-traffic and regional locations.
NIS has prioritized retail network development as a consistent investment focus over recent years. In fact, over the past five years, the total investment in expanding and upgrading its retail network has reached approximately €57.6 million. This commitment reflects a long-term strategy aimed at bolstering market presence and fostering consumer loyalty even amid periods of market volatility.
By continuing to develop modernized and new service stations throughout 2025, NIS is solidifying its position within Serbia’s fuel retail market. This move underscores the importance of downstream infrastructure as a vital element of its domestic growth and resilience strategy.
