The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) announced that on the first business day of this week, a record 468,697 transactions were processed in its instant payment system (IPS), amounting to 6,908,757,637.64 dinars. This marks a new daily record for the number of transactions since the system’s launch.
According to the statement, the NBS instant payment system enables one of the most advanced payment methods currently available worldwide, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year.
“Thanks to this system, citizens and businesses in Serbia can make payments easily and quickly, from anywhere, at any time, including weekends, holidays, and nighttime, with the recipient receiving the funds within just a few seconds,” emphasized the central bank.
The NBS reminds that the instant payment system began operations on October 22, 2018, making it one of the first systems of its kind in the world. Since its inception, it has been highly successful, with a consistently growing number of transactions, showing that both Serbian citizens and businesses have recognized the advantages of this system.
