The Government of Serbia has declared the expropriation of land in the cadastral areas of Suvi Dol and Ranutovac, within the city of Vranje, as being in the public interest. This is for the construction of the Regional Waste Management Center “Meteris Vranje”, with the City of Vranje named as the beneficiary of the expropriation.
In March last year, Vranje’s Mayor Slobodan Milenković met with consultants from KfW Bank and representatives of the public utility company JKP Komrad to advance the project. The plan includes expanding the existing landfill over 64 hectares and building a waste sorting facility serving six municipalities in the Pčinj district.
The project’s total value is €12.5 million, financed primarily by KfW Bank with approximately €9.5 million in grants, while the remainder is provided by the City of Vranje and the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.
