Minister of Finance Siniša Mali stated that the decision to postpone sanctions against the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) has not been finalized, with ongoing complex negotiations involving Serbian and Russian sides. So far, Serbia has successfully secured two postponements and hopes for a positive outcome amid the current Middle East crisis.
Mali emphasized the importance of NIS continuing operations for the interests of the U.S., Russia, and Serbia, especially given global oil price increases complicating the situation. NIS has recently submitted a new request to the U.S. Treasury for a special license to delay full sanctions enforcement beyond June 27, following the previous license expiration. Serbia remains committed to defending its interests in these talks.
