A total of 100 countries have confirmed their participation in the upcoming International Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027, set to take place in Belgrade, according to the Minister of Finance.
In a statement on Instagram, the Minister emphasized that the swift confirmation from countries around the world highlights Serbia’s trustworthiness as a host nation. He expressed confidence that the number of participants will continue to rise, exceeding the 117 countries that participated in the previous Specialized Exhibition in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Preparations for the event are progressing on schedule, with hundreds of workers and machines working daily at the construction site in Surčin to ensure the venue is ready by December 1, 2026. On that date, the keys to the pavilion will be handed over to the participating countries.
For Serbia, EXPO 2027 represents a significant opportunity for growth, development, and economic strengthening. The Minister noted that the event will not only showcase Serbia’s potential but will also attract tourists, investors, and businesspeople from around the world. EXPO 2027 will be a platform for participating countries to highlight their economies, cultures, innovations, and visions for the future, he added.
The director of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, Dušan Borovčanin, commented that Serbia had reached its goal of securing 100 country confirmations well ahead of the original 2025 deadline. This early achievement, according to Borovčanin, highlights Serbia’s international standing and recognition as a key global meeting point.
With 100 countries confirmed early in the process, Serbia is now on track to exceed the expected 120 participants, which speaks volumes about its cultural diplomacy and growing international influence. Borovčanin expressed optimism that the exhibition would become an important symbol of global unity, where people from all corners of the world will connect through sport, music, and culture.
EXPO 2027 in Belgrade will take place from May 15 to August 15, 2027, under the theme “Game(s) for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.” The event will be an opportunity for Serbia to host over four million visitors, showcase innovations, and leave a lasting impact on international relations as the host of this prestigious global event.
