During a meeting with Serbia’s Minister of Agriculture Dragan Glamočić, EU representatives emphasized the importance of Serbia fully utilizing available EU funding to support its agricultural sector and continue aligning with EU legal standards.
The discussion focused on implementing the Reform Agenda under the Western Balkans Growth Plan, aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and harmonizing domestic legislation with European standards.
Glamočić highlighted that Serbia’s strategic goal is the full application of EU policies in agriculture, food safety, veterinary, and phytosanitary sectors. He noted that EU support has helped farmers and processors modernize production and become more competitive, and stressed the importance of ensuring that EU funds reach as many agricultural producers as possible.
The meeting also addressed the IPARD III program, a key EU instrument for supporting local farmers and processors, noting efforts to simplify procedures for faster and more efficient processing of applications.
Both sides agreed on the potential for further cooperation in sustainable agriculture, particularly regarding climate change and the green transition, and emphasized continued work on strengthening agricultural policies and improving living conditions in Serbia’s rural areas.
