The average monthly household income in Serbia last year, including both cash and in-kind income, was 97,705 dinars, while average monthly household expenditures for personal consumption amounted to 98,165 dinars, according to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.
Compared to 2023, average monthly income rose by 11.1 percent, and household consumption expenditures increased by 11.2 percent in nominal terms. The largest share of income came from regular employment at 53.4 percent, followed by pensions at 30.6 percent. Income from agriculture, hunting, and fishing accounted for 3.9 percent, in-kind consumption 2.6 percent, income outside regular employment 2.3 percent, social security benefits 2.3 percent, and other sources made up 4.9 percent.
Regarding household consumption, the largest expenses were for food and non-alcoholic beverages at 36.6 percent, and housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels at 16.3 percent. Other significant expenditure categories included transport at 8.9 percent, miscellaneous personal items and services at 5.9 percent, communications 5.4 percent, recreation and culture 5.2 percent, clothing and footwear 4.7 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco 4.4 percent, health 4.1 percent, and other categories 8.5 percent.
